Ramadan:

Ramadan  is a holy month for  muslims in which they fast from dawn to sunset which means they restrain themselves from eating throughout the day during that time.It is a month that reflects healing of spirit and self discipline.

The main problem that Muslims face during Ramadan is the Overeating which can lead to variety of health problems such as high blood pressure, obesity etc.
It can also lead to feelings of guilt, shame, and anxiety.

Reasons for excessive eating during ramadan:

Some common reasons for overeating include stress, boredom, and emotional eating. After  a day of fasting, the body naturally craves food and water. People may feel the need to compensate for the hours of not eating by consuming large quantities of food, which can lead to overeating. Therefore,it is important to plan meals and snacks during Ramadan to ensure that the body gets the necessary nutrients and energy. Without proper planning, people may find themselves overeating or consuming unhealthy foods.

Tips to control excessive eating during ramadan:

Avoid sugary and high-fat foods: Sugary and high-fat foods are foods that are high in calories and low in nutritional value ,such as,fried foods,baverages and snacks.These foods can make you feel sluggish and tired, which can make it difficult to control your eating. Instead, choose fibre rich foods which includes fruits, vegetables, and whole grains.

Eat slowly: Take your time when eating and savor each bite. This will give your brain time to register when you are full, which can help prevent overeating.Otherwise,you will keep eating and still won’t feel the urge to stop

Stay hydrated: Drink plenty of water after opening your fast so that ur stomach is full of water . This can help you feel less hungry and prevent overeating.

Avoid overindulging during iftar and suhoor: These are the two main meals during Ramadan, but it’s important not to overindulge during these times. Instead, eat small portion of meal and make sure to leave room for food for later, don’t eat till your stomach is full.

Practice mindfulness: Pay attention to your body and how it feels. If you feel full, stop eating. Mindful eating can help you be more aware of your food choices and prevent overeating.

Keep yourself busy: Keep yourself busy in acitivities like reading, exercise, or spending time with family and friends throghout the day. . This can help distract you from thoughts of food and prevent overeating.
